Solar Eclipse Special Events

On August 21, a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Pennsylvania. To mark this historic occasion, the Carnegie Library of Midland will be hosting a two-part eclipse special event.

Join us Thursday, August 17, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., for an instructional program for the entire family, featuring special guest speaker, Toni Lawson, science teacher for the Midland School District.
This program will feature information on the solar eclipse and how to view it safely, as well as videos, crafts and a story for the children.
Free solar viewing glasses will be given to everyone in attendance.

Then on Monday, August 21, join us outside the library beginning at 1 p.m. to view the eclipse.  Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket!  Toni Lawson will also be joining us that day to answer questions.
In the event of clouds or rain, we will be live-streaming the eclipse inside the library.

Viewing glasses and resources provided by: StarNet, NASA @ My Library, Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, Research Corporation for Science Advancement, and Google.

(Please note that, due to a limited supply, viewing glasses will only be distributed during these two programs.)
